2012 West Coast Scooter Trip

CA - Manzanar National Historic Site

A few miles out of Lone Pine, CA we stopped at Manzanar National Historic Site. Manzanar was one of 10 Relocation Centers for Japanese that lived in the Pacific Coast States of the US that were deemed to potentially “threaten the war effort”. At this facility, about 10,000 men, women and children were housed in 504 barracks. The first arrived in September 1942 and the last left in November 1945.... another sad chapter in America's history. Click on any of the thumbnail pictures to see an expanded view.
