PCT Section C

Pink Motel

It is really not a "motel". It is a collection of scrap, junked cars, RVs, a traliler and a building (somewhat pink in color); no running water, no phone, 12 volt lights from a wind/solar panel/ battery arrangement and an outhouse. It was heaven to get out of the sun and wind and a good place to rest with other hikers. Don and Helen Middleton own the property which is right next to the trail and about a mile North of where the PCT crosses Interstate 10. They live nearby and can see the place from their home. Don and Helen bring over drinking water and some food. PCT hikers (like we did) can mail food packages to their home and they bring them over to the Pink Motel for the hikers to pickup as they pass by. The shelves are overflowing with stuff from food packages that is left behind. The large building can accomodate about 10 hikers for sleeping if you do not mind the furry little animals that are attracted to the place from all the food left behind.
