Alaska 2016

Museum of the North at Fairbanks

We left Barrow and flew to Fairbanks. On our first day of touring it was raining so we took the opportunity to visit indoor attractions. We spent the morning at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center. After lunch, we went to the University of Alaska Museum of the North. We saw three 30 minute films: Discovering dinosaur bones in Alaska, Whale migration and research and a film on the Northern Lights. They had an extensive art collection and many exhibits on the local people, local animals, dinosaurs and whaling. The Brown Bear we are standing in front of stood 8ft 9in tall.
